TRUCKERS' STORIES * USA - New marriage prompts big change as woman takes up trucking alongside husband

Moshein,TN,USA -The Knoxville News Sentinel (subscription - Knoxville,TN), by CHANDRA HARRIS -June 10, 2007: -- As Lennie Edwards stoops down to check the air pressure on the tires of an 18-wheeler, her 5-foot-1-inch frame seems to disappear... The engine noise from the Freightliner drowns out her Southern drawl even though she's yelling... Disbelief that she's a trucker at the Mosheim-based Shipper's Transport subsides as she jumps up on the Freightliner's front fender to close the hood with all her might... Edwards climbs into the truck's cab. She raises the seat as high as it can go, making sure she can still reach the brake and gas pedals... With her low-heeled Mary Jane shoes to the pedal, she's ready to hug the road, toting 80,000 pounds... (Photo by SAUL YOUNG/NEWS SENTINEL - Edwards practices driving skills in a truck similar to the one she drives with her husband. They work as a team for Shipper’s Transport in Mosheim, Tenn.)
