Trucking Code * Australia - Govt 'caved into industry' on
Tasmania,Australia -ABC Online -March 31, 2007: -- Tasmanian Infrastructure Minister Jim Cox has strongly defended the new code of practice for the heavy truck industry... Greens MHA Kim Booth has savaged the code and accused Mr Cox of abandoning his responsibility... Mr Booth says Mr Cox has caved in to the trucking industry by accepting a recommendation from the Heavy Truck Safety Council that a voluntary safety code be adopted... He says the code in effect still allows over-loaded log trucks on the road and the possibility of serious accidents or road deaths...
