Rural Trucking Operators * Australia - Debate the issues at Roma

Queensland,Australia -Blues Country Magazine -March 06, 2007: -- About 100 operators from across Queensland converged on Roma on Saturday for the biannual Queensland Rural Trucking Forum, exceeding organisers’ expectations... The Trucking Council of Queensland — which includes NatRoad, the Australian Road Train Association (ARTA), Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) and Livestock Transporters Association of Queensland — says the turnout is a strong reflection of a unified industry with a growing focus on safety and regulation... Attendees heard from presenters from Queensland Transport, Queensland Main Roads, Queensland Police as well as representatives from the associations that make up the council... The decision by the Queensland Government to introduce demerit point penalties for logbook offences was debated, along with the need for more rest areas to meet fatigue regulation compliance... The issue of triple road train access around Roma was also discussed...
