"Robberies and Criminal Activity" - Pakistan - Transporters threaten strike unless crime and toll tax cut
Lahore,Pakistan -The Daily Times, by Hasan Ali -26 Nov 2006: -- The Pakistan Goods Transporters’ Association’s (PGTA) has threatened to go on an indefinite countrywide strike if the authorities fail to control crime or cut toll tax on highways and motorways... PGTA Chairman Chaudhry Mukhtar, told Daily Times that national highways and motorways had become a “hub of robberies and criminal activity”. He said the association had contacted other transporters’ organisations to finalise a date for the strike, which would be “soon”... He said that around five cargo trucks had been looted on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway over the last two months...
