* Australia - Oversized trucks to enter cities
Sydney,Australia -The Australian, by Cath Hart -Oct 13, 2006: -- Giant B-triple trucks, more than 30m long, would be able to drive through crowded capital cities on the east coast under a proposal to be considered by the nation's transport ministers today... The Australian Transport Council is also likely to endorse a fatigue-management program for truck drivers after several years of research... The National Transport Commission will recommend the ministerial council endorse an "inter-capital" network for the giant freight trucks...
* UK - 80 ft trucks for Europe?
UK -Reuters.uk -13 Oct, 2006: -- Volvo has presented its ideas to make 25 metre long trucks (almost 80 feet) common in Europe... Strange as it may seem, this is for environmental reasons. The idea is that two extra-long trucks can do the work of three current trucks, which means less overall emissions... Sweden and Finland already allow these vehicles, and now other European countries are considering legalising them... One can understand the logic, but motorists will not look forward to overtaking a 25 metre long truck on a rural road...
