GreenNews - USA - Compressed Natural Gas is a future fuel now
Providence,RI,USA -The Providence Journal, by Peter C.T. Elsworth -Sept 10, 2006: -- Compressed Natural Gas stands out as an alternative fuel because it is very clean – the so-called darling of the environmental movement – and there is plenty of it available. But it has always suffered from range problems because the storage tanks take up so much room... Nationwide, there were about 130,000 CNG vehicles in 2005, with about one in five new transit buses now powered by CNG, and 5 million worldwide, according to Kolodziej... There are also about 1,300 CNG fueling stations nationwide. In Rhode Island, the state has a handful of stations with the only station currently open to the public located at T.F. Green Airport where CNG is currently priced at the equivalent of $2.69 a gallon...
