Beijing,China -TNN (UK) -Aug 2006: -- Iveco has finalised a joint venture agreement with a couple of Chinese firms, SAIC Motor Corporation and Chongqing Heavy Vehicle Group, to establish a long-term partnership in China in the field of heavy commercial vehicles... Once the agreement has been approved by the Chinese central authorities, Iveco and SAIC will establish a 50-50 joint venture, under the name of SAIC Iveco Commercial Vehicle Investment Company Ltd... The idea is to construct a new production plant Chongqing which will entail an investment of around €120m, of which Iveco will be responsible for €40m. This is intended to support a volume increase from the current 15,000 to 40,000 heavy commercial vehicles in the medium term...

Chennai,India -TNN (UK) -Aug 2006: -- Avia Trucks will be Ashok Leyland's window into Europe following a framework deal that will see Ashok buy the Prague based truck firm's truck business unit from venture capitalists the Odien Group... Ashok Leyland Ltd is the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group. The sale is subject to the completion of some conditions as well as corporate and statutory approvals by both Avia and Ashok Leyland. Avia's main markets are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland Italy, Slovakia, Spain and the UK, selling trucks from 6 to 12 tonnes... Ashok, based in Chennai, exports to over 30 countries and last year made $30m turnover...
