Development - USA - Alcoa to help create cold-start systems for trucks

San Diego,CA,USA -KESQ (Palm Desert,CA) -14 Aug 2006: -- San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies will collaborate with Alcoa's automotive division to create new "cold start" systems for commercial trucks... Alcoa officials say A-F-L Automotive will work with the ultracapacitor company to make "an on-board jump-start capability." ... Officials say the feature will become increasingly important as more states prohibit trucks from running their engines overnight... Such restrictions mean that truckers who are resting will run down their truck batteries when they use heating, cooling and entertainment systems with the engine off... Officials say trucking companies already incur considerable costs to jump-start stranded trucks...
