Production - Venezuela - To get first ever automotive components plant
UK -Auto Industry/El Universal & Agency ABN(Caracas,VEN) -21 June 2006: -- The Venezuelan state and the Hungarian company PLES Rt will make a joint investment of US$223 million in what is described as Venezuela’s first ever domestic automotive components plant... A letter of intent has been signed concerning the construction of a primary aluminium manufacturing plant and for the subsequent manufacture of engine blocks... The facility, due to start operations in 20 months’ time, will have an installed capacity of 60 tonnes of primary aluminium, creating 500 direct jobs... The project is intended primarily to meet domestic market needs, though the customer for the engine blocks was not identified...
