HOS - Australia - Truckies want new State law to go national
Tamworth,New South Wales,Australia -Tamworth Northern Daily Leader -2 March 2006: -- New heavy vehicle fatigue laws that came into effect in NSW this week have met with mixed reaction from the trucking industry... The regulations will mean that a complete driver fatigue management plan will need to be in place for subcontracted and employee drivers whose journey exceeds 500km... NSW Road Transport Association general manager Lyle White who addressed a meeting in Tamworth on Tuesday night said the regulation would "definitely make things better for truck drivers as it puts into place some sort of regulated policies and procedures system that will allow the monitoring of the number of hours a driver actually does"... The Australian Trucking Association said fatigue needed to be addressed on a national level...
