USA - Truckline Express, by ATA -1 Dec 2005: -- The Internal Revenue Service has announced some changes in the Federal income-tax rules governing how much can be deducted for a truck driver's over-the-road expenses... For calendar 2006, the flat rate per day that may be deducted for a driver's meals and incidental expenses in the continental United States rises to $52 from the $41 allowed in 2005. For those who keep an itemized record of meal expenses, 75 percent of such expenses may be deducted for 2006 and 2007, up from 70 percent for 2004 and 2005...
