USA - The Car Connection -1 Nov 2005: -- Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) drivers are big fans of luxury and import brands, according to a new study from Harris Interactive... Harris compiled the figures in the report because it asserts that members of the GLBT community are increasingly aware of which automakers advertise directly to them. Volkswagen, Subaru, Volvo and BMW are viewed most positively by the GLBT crowd because of their advertising and public-service initiatives. In addition, the survey found that GLBT shoppers are significantly more inclined to consider hybrid vehicles than non-GLBT shoppers (51 percent would consider, versus 34 percent of non-gay shoppers); are more likely to use the Internet and word-of-mouth recommendations when shopping; and in the case of gay men, are more likely to listen satellite radio than non-GLBT folks because of programming geared toward GLBT listeners...
