Oil - France - Plans Measures Over Oil Prices
Paris,France -Associated Press/Forbes (USA) - 08.16.2005: -- French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said that oil prices were expected to remain high for several years and, in the short term, the government plans to hand surplus oil tax revenues back to consumers... Workers for whom fuel makes up a majority of costs and those earning close to minimum wage would be among those to benefit from the redistribution, he said... With the cost of crude oil hovering around US$66 per barrel, Villepin also pledged unspecified emergency measures to assist "business categories most directly exposed to the price increases," including truckers, farmers, fishermen and taxi drivers...
