Current owner/directors Terry and Daphne Nolan have grown from a small 10-truck business to now having more than 110 vehicles... Nolan's currently employs 230 staff and has depots in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne... Mr Nolan has been in the trucking industry for more than 30 years and is proud to still have some of the same men working beside him... The highest honour bestowed upon him most recently was being added to the Road Transport Hall Of Fame...

Fulfillment * UK - Aston's first 'It'll be 'ready-in-a-jiffy' Hino tipper.

Keep an eye on the Japanese....It only took a week....

Birmingham,UK -Biglorryblog -14 Feb 2007: -- Apparently it only took a week before Black-Country based E Aston & Son decided to take its first Hino eight-legger, which was also the first to be ordered from Hi -Trucks... And in the best tradition of Hino, it came within a few weeks of being ordered, complete with steel body and tipping gear... And there's the rub. While most UK tippermen have to wait weeks, if not months while other chassis manufacturers and bodybuilders finally get around to delivering their completed order the blokes from Hino seem to have ready-bodied-tippers pretty much up their sleeves...

Kandahar,Afganistan -Biglorryblog (UK) -14 Feb 2007: -- ... in 2005 Scania delivered 555 trucks to the Dutch Ministry of Defence which subsequently allocated 24 of them for deployment to Afghanistan as part of the Netherlands’ military peace-keeping mission. However, just before they were shipped overseas, some bright spark noticed that the outer protection layer of the vehicles’ windscreens "...didn’t fully meet the translucency requirements"...

Story * USA - Less Lee's 3 trucking companies deal with growth

Chattanooga,TN,USA -The Chattanooga Times Free Press, by Jason M. Reynolds -Jan 28, 2007: -- Chattanooga businessman Less Lee says his truck companies have grown so much, and offer the potential for more, that he has reached a crossroads... The three companies' 2006 gross revenue of just under $200 million is a record for the businesses, Mr. Lee said. His companies' uncollected accounts receivables are less than one-tenth of one percent, he said. International Truck has told Lee-Smith it's among the top 10 percent of dealers based on units sold and delivered, even though Chattanooga isn't one of the largest markets, he said... The goal is to accelerate the interns' learning curve, Mr. Lee said, and in 10 years have them at the level where Lee-Smith's managers were at age 40. Other Lee-Smith workers are being moved up the ranks as well, he said, and Lesco Logistics is using mentoring to create experienced managers...
