TRADING USED TRUCKS * Russia - Importers drive bargains with used US trucks

Moscow,Russia -The Financial Times (London,England,UK), by Bernard Simon -March 28 2008: -- Many of the giant trucks now hauling car parts, groceries and building materials across Russia were - until a few months ago - trundling along interstate highways in Texas and Ohio... A glut of trucks in the US and the sliding dollar have encouraged a boom in exports of class 8 rigs, the biggest vehicles on the road, vividly underscoring the contrast between the faltering US economy and fast-growing emerging markets... Russia and Mexico are the biggest buyers. Hundreds of used American trucks are also on the road in Nigeria, Vietnam and South Korea...

TRADES * Vietnam - Slashes tariffs on Chinese trucks

Vietnam -People's Daily Online (Beijing,China)/newspaper Youth -May 03, 2007: -- Vietnam has lowered import taxes on different kinds of Chinese automobiles, mainly trucks, by 5-10 percentage points, reported Thursday... Under the country's Finance Ministry decision, from May 1, Chinese vans, pick-ups, common lorries, and three-wheeled light trucks are subject to the tariff of 80 percent instead of 90 percent; trucks weighing 6 tons upwards 50 percent instead of 55 percent; and golf cars, small racing cars and vehicles used to transport goods with total tonnage of no more than 24 tons 40 percent instead of 50 percent...

TRADE * Canada - Heavy-duty truck exports to plunge 29%

Toronto,Ont,CAN -Truck News, by James Menzies -26 April 2007: -- Export Development Canada says Ontario auto exports will drop 6% this year, costing the economy about $4.8 billion. The agency says heavy-duty truck exports will take the biggest hit, dropping 29% to $3.93 billion as a result of the 2007 emission standards...
