The freight-rail centre is expected to generate about 750 truck movements a week

Newport,VIC,Australia -The Hobsons Bay Leader, by Kelly Brown -15 July 2008: -- An inland port and rail freight distribution centre will go ahead in Altona North after Hobsons Bay Council was overruled at VCAT... The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal has ruled that the statewide benefits outweigh "minor" resident and environmental concerns... Modal Place, a new road off Burns St, Altona North, will service both developments with the inland port expected to cater daily for 4000 containers, 900 truck movements and four to five trains... The freight-rail centre is expected to generate about 750 truck movements a week and trains up to 1.8km long... Hobsons Bay Council rejected the developments last December, citing concerns over native grass removal, excessive noise and the general increase in truck traffic... But the case was taken to the tribunal... During proceedings the Minister for Planning, Justin Madden, said the developments were "integral to improving the efficiency of the port and associated freight distribution", the economy, jobs and reduction in road transport... Road widening * USA - Keeps trucking

Officials with the county and cities along Race Track Road expect to be pleased with the results

Oldsmar,FL,USA -St. Petersburg Times (St. Petersburg,FL), by Tamara El-Khoury -26 Jan 2007: -- Race Track Road is getting wider. And officials from both sides of the well-traveled corridor couldn't be happier... Hillsborough County's more than $65-million project to widen Race Track Road to up to six lanes continues this week with the start of construction between Countryway Boulevard and Linebaugh Avenue... That section of the road will be expanded from two lanes to four... And the final product will make life much easier, Valdez promised. There won't be any more traffic jams to let people cross to and from the parking lot as races are starting and ending...
