* Madhya Pradesh / India - Volvo-Eicher trucks going up the growth curve steadily
--- Pro Series trucks have been playing a big role in fuelling sales for the company... It was in December 2013 when the Managing Director & CEO of Eicher, Siddhartha Lal, spoke of a new vision roadmap for VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), the joint venture between Volvo and Eicher Motors... The event was the unveiling of the Pro Series trucks at the company’s plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, and Lal had reasons to be pleased... In an arena where sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales have been slowing down, VECV has bucked the trend and grown 26 per cent with sales of nearly 14,000 cargo trucks in the first half of this fiscal. As a result, its market share is now up to 12.2 per cent from 9.5 per cent. It is here that the Pro Series trucks have been doing particularly well...

--- The United States Department of Transportation announced that the last of the nearly 16,000 U.S. heavy trucks voluntarily recalled earlier this year by Volvo Trucks North America for a serious steering defect have been identified and repaired, achieving an extraordinary 100 percent vehicle safety recall completion in a very short period of time. The recall was overseen by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in collaboration with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration...

* Stockholm / Sweden - Volvo says plans to sell Governmental Sales unit
--- Swedish truck maker Volvo said on Friday it planned start a process to sell its Governmental Sales unit following a strategic review of the business... Governmental Sales, which has most of its about1,300 employees in France, manufactures and sells especially designed vehicles to governments, the defence industry, peacekeeping forces and aid organizations... Volvo said the initiation of a divestment process was subject to the finalising of mandatory consultations with staff representative bodies...
