* Washington - Amazon is building its air cargo network
--- Amazon will acquire an impressive fleet of Boeing 767-300 freighter. The online retail giant has signed with two suppliers: Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) and Atlas Air... Amazon sees it big for its future air cargo network ... The contract with Atlas Air, formalized May 5, 2016, relates to the lease 20 Boeing 767-300 freighter. Operations should start in the second half of 2016 and ramp up to full deployment in 2018... Part of the equipment is rented with crew from Atlas Air, a subsidiary of AAWW, for a period of 7 years, with a possible extension to 10 years. Other B767-300 leased unmanned for 10 years at Titan Aviation Unit of AAWW aircraft leasing group... The contract also provides for the possibility to Amazon to acquire up to 20% of the shares of Atlas Air Worldwide at a price of $ 37.50 per share for a period of 5 years. Added to this is an additional option for 10% over a period of 7 years... The agreement with Atlas Air Worldwide has many similarities with the contract signed in March 2016 by Amazon Air Transport Services Group...
