* KwaZulu-Natal  - Roadworthiness blitz on trucks

-- Twenty-three truck drivers were nabbed in spot checks and roadblocks in Durban on Thursday for having no licence, or the incorrect licence... Trucks were pulled over on Bayhead and Langeberg Road in Maydon Wharf, where trucks enter and leave the port, and other areas around the city... Twenty-two trucks were suspended and impounded by metro police for various defects... Eight drivers did not have driving licences, while 15 truck drivers did not have a Professional Driving Permit... Metro police have warned trucking companies to toe the line because more roadblocks and spot checks were on the cards in an effort to reduce truck-related crashes...
