TRUCKMAKERS NEWS USA: * Navistar's add 300 jobs -- ** Daimler trucks' safety systems

* Ohio - Navistar to add 300 jobs, invest $12.8M

-- Navistar will add 300 jobs and invest about $12.8 million in its Springfield truck facility, a dramatic turnaround from just five years ago when the plant had only a few hundred workers. * Nevada - Safety Systems have reasonable ROI, DTNA executives say

Asked about cost, when tractor prices are rising from environmental equipment, Hames said the original equipment manufacturer is “looking to add value, not just cost, and to provide a payback to customers. We have to demonstrate a payback on safety” ... The company also will continue offering trimmed-down trucks for those buyers who don’t desire such technologically advanced features...
