* Oregon - Truck maker plans upgrade test facility 

  -- A heavy-duty truck manufacturer says it will spend $18 million upgrading its research and development facility in central Oregon... Portland-based Daimler Trucks North America tells that it plans to improve its test track in Madras and add maintenance and office buildings... The company in an announcement Friday also said it will build a truck wash bay and fueling station, adding 30 jobs at the 87-acre facility... Officials with Madras and Jefferson County agreed to a tax exemption on the company’s buildings and equipment at the facility... The company says the test track in Madras allows the company to simulate a vehicle’s full-service life in various conditions in just six months...
