PARKING SHORTAGE * Australia: City to be more ‘trucker friendly’

* Western Australia - Short-term road-side parking bays for trucks could be coming to Cockburn next year

-- The city looked into it after the matter was raised by Cockburn Councillor Steve Portelli in September. He said Cockburn had many truck drivers stopping at various activity hubs in Cockburn each day to get drink and food. Cr Portelli said something had to be done because of the growing number of truck movements and because Cockburn was located between Fremantle and a proposed port south of the city... Councillors agreed parking was needed and moved to back the officer’s recommendation to allocate $100,000 a year for roadside parking for heavy vehicles. Some locations being considered include Wellard Street and Barrington Street in Bibra Lake, Berrigan Drive in South Lake, Cockburn Road in Henderson, and Solomon Road in Jandakot...
