ENDING STRIKE * Long Beach & Los Angeles Ports, California, USA

* California - Port of Long Beach, Los Angeles: Ttruck drivers end strike

-- Drivers working for three of four trucking firms have returned to work after being on strike throughout the week, the Teamsters union announced Friday... Teamsters announced Monday that drivers for four companies  — Pacific 9 Transportation, Pacer Cartage, Harbor Rail Transport and Intermodal Bridge Transport — voted to go on strike over allegations of wage theft and misclassification. The latter issue revolves around some drivers’ contention they should be treated as full-fledged employees and not independent contractors... Friday morning, Teamsters announced that strike actions would only continue against Pacific 9 Transportation and that picketing would take place outside the company’s facility in Carson... A Teamsters spokeswoman did not say drivers won any immediate concessions from the three trucking firms that are no longer subject to a strike, although they reserve the right to stop working again if they decide another strike may benefit their cause... Drivers have made a conditional offer to Pacific 9 Transportation to resume work, but have yet to receive a response from that company’s attorney, according to a Teamsters statement...
