* Michigan - Trucks drive U.S.A. vehicle sales to rise in Q1
-- Sales of new vehicles in the U.S. continue to rise on the back of strong pSickup truck and SUV sales, buoyed in part by low gas prices but especially by the overall improvement in the economy and its construction sector... In the first quarter of 2015, vehicle sales rose 5.6 percent on an annual basis to 3,954,544 units, according to information from Autodata Corp... Of that total, passenger car sales dipped 0.2 percent to 1,834,052 units, while sales of light trucks climbed 11.2 percent to 2,120,492 units sold... In the month of March, new vehicles sales in the U.S. inched up by just 0.6 percent to 1,545,802 units... That put the seasonally adjusted selling rate at 17.1 million vehicles, besting most analysts' prediction of 16.9 million units SAAR and a slight year-over-year decline for the month, according to Automotive News. It also marked the third-highest selling rate since the Great Recession...
