* Tanzania - Transport reforms to boost economic growth
Dar es Salaam,Tanzania -The Tanzania Daily News, by Finnigan Wa Simbeye -28 Oct 2014: -- Come 2016 cargo trucks travelling between Dar es Salaam port to Nyakanazi in Kigoma Region will only stop at three check points including a slow down at Vigwaza's weigh in motion bridge... Trade Mark East Africa Country Director, Dr Josephat Kweka, said in Dar es Salaam last week that the move is part of Big Results Now's (BRN) Central Corridor project... Attention is focused on improvement of Dar port's efficiency in cargo handling, a major means of bulky cargo transportation to upcountry regions and neighbouring countries remains almost unavailable... Dar port handles over 90 per cent of the country's exports and imports and also serves landlocked countries of Burundi, DR Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia...
