Petite, smiling, high-energy Teri Channell is not your typical trucker, and now she’s found her place in the classroom at Northern Industrial Training, LLC of Dickinson. Currently there is a shortage of 23,000 CDL licensed drivers in the United States and Channell along with other instructors in the country are looking to support the industries need for qualified workers. With more than two-million safe miles, the trucker instructor is putting a new crop of licensed drivers in to the Bakken oil field. The former owner-operator lived on the road, and now she’s settling down... Teri was born in Minot, moved about the United States, ended up in Georgia where she and her husband were team drivers. Now she’s passing on her life skills to students. Since she hired on with NIT at the end of last winter, she completed the NIT instructor training course in Alaska and has successfully put more than two dozen newly-licensed drivers behind the steering wheels of oil field trucks...
