* Ontario - Turnpike doubles may be allowed in London

London,ONT,CAN -Today's Trucking -May 9, 2013: -- Long-combination vehicles (LCV) may soon be allowed in London, Ontario, thanks to new roadway upgrades... Currently, LCVs are restricted to certain highways and overpasses (namely 400 series highways), but there are talks of a $30 million roadwork upgrade that would open up the interchange at the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Highway 401... The London Economic Development Corporation thinks that building an infrastructure to allow LCVs would benefit London and could be a good way to attract jobs... According to CTV London, the expansion would make the Parkway the only non-400 series highway west of Kitchener usable by turnpike doubles... In time, the provincial plan will allow for three LCV-enhanced London interchanges with the 401...
