* China - VW recall of 384,000 cars could cost 3.7 billion yuan

Chaoyang District,Beijing,China -Bloomberg News/AW -20 March 2013: -- Volkswagen AG recalled a record number of vehicles in China to replace defective gearboxes that may result in the loss of acceleration, in a move that may cost Europe's largest carmaker more than $600 million (3.7 billion yuan). The recall of 384,181 vehicles, conducted by Volkswagen and its joint ventures, include the Golf, Magotan, Sagitar and Audi A3, China's quality inspector said on its website... The move is a blow for Volkswagen, which counts China as its biggest market. The recall comes less than a week after state broadcaster China Central Television featured Volkswagen customers in China complaining about abnormal vibrations, loss of power and sudden acceleration in cars equipped with the company's proprietary gearbox technology... LMC estimates Volkswagen sold about 680,000 vehicles equipped with the potentially faulty DSG gearboxes...


* China - Jianghuai Automobile recalls cars after CCTV report

Shanghai,SH,China -WSJ/Dow Jones Newswires (USA), by Rose Yu -March 19, 2013: -- Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. will recall 117,072 motor vehicles at risk of premature rusting, China's quality-control agency said on Tuesday. The Tong Yue brand sedans were built between 2008 and 2011, according to a General Administration of Quality Supervision statement posted on its website on Tuesday...  Jianghuai Automobile used substandard steel plates to build some car. Rust developed on some of the company's Tong Yue cars after just a couple of years... The German carmaker's Chinese operation will recall these cars, it said over the weekend...
