Akron,Ohio,USA -Transport Engineer, by John Challen -8 Dec 2011: -- Goodyear's new Regional RHT II RFID (radio frequency identification) 435/50R19.5 trailer tyre features a built-in microchip claimed to enable fleet operators to cut downtime, and improve tyre management and security... The system connects to FleetOnlineSolutions, Goodyear's Internet-based tyre management system, and enables service provider or fleet operators to quickly scan all tyres and record details electronically... Several large megatrailer fleets are now using the FleetOnlineSolutions, according to Goodyear, for tyre management, and benefiting from the close monitoring that RFID allows... The microchip is built into the tyre on the assembly line and programmed with a unique code that identifies the tyre, enabling a hand-held reader to see type and size as well as its identity number...Labels: tires makers news worldwide
