* Sweden - Volvo Group posts 63% truck sales decline for April

Stockholm,Sweden -Fleet Owner -May 21, 2009: -- Following the lead of North American truck OEMs, Volvo Truck Group reported worldwide April sales of just 9,196 vehicles-- a 63% decline over April 2008... Following the lead of North American truck OEMs, Volvo Truck Group reported worldwide April sales of just 9,196 vehicles-- a 63% decline over April 2008... Eastern European sales took the largest dive, dropping from 2,896 trucks to 382, an 87% drop. Europe as a whole fell 69% with 4,052 trucks sold. North America sales also plummeted 69% to 1,128 vehicles... Year-to-date, the truck maker said its sales are down 54% to 41,433 units, led by a 62% decline in Europe, its largest market, and 52% in North America...


* India - Tata Motors Unveils New Truck Line. Seeks to Compete With Global OEMs

Mumbay,India -Transport Topics (USA) -28 May 2009: -- India’s Tata Motors said it is unveiling a new line of trucks to be called the “world truck,” the New York Times reported Thursday... It will produce the vehicles in India and South Korea, where it owns the Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Co... Analysts say Tata was revamping its truck lineup to compete with global truck manufacturers such as Sweden’s Volvo AB and Germany’s Daimler AG, which recently started selling trucks in India, and local competitors...
