WEATHER TROUBLES * USA - Area could see 10 inches of snow by end of today
Chicago,ILL,USA -The Chicago Sun Times, by MONIFA THOMAS -January 10, 2009: -- By Saturday afternoon, 12 inches of snow fell at O'Hare Airport, causing flight delays and traffic headaches, city officials said... The snow that started Friday morning continued into Saturday and the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation said 12 inches had fallen at O'Hare and almost 8 inches fell at Midway... The city had its full-fleet of 274 snow-fighting trucks on the streets since 9 p.m. Friday. At 6 p.m. Saturday, all the trucks began working on clearing the snow from the 3,300 miles of side streets, according to a release from the city’s Department of Streets & Sanitation. Twenty-four smaller plows have been working the narrowest of side streets since noon Saturday...
