* South Africa - Commercial vehicles group invests to boost SA regional exposure
Johannesburg,SA -Engineering News, by Jonathan Faurie -22 Aug 2008: -- Commercial vehicles- focused group Navistar has invested $40-million in a production and assembly facility in Johannesburg as part of the company’s goal to increase its exposure in the Southern African region... This will be achieved through the newly created Navistar International Trucks Southern Africa (Nitsa) headquarters and production facility, which was unveiled last month... * USA - Mack, Volvo add disc brake option
USA -Land Line Magazine -August 21, 2008: -- Truckers ordering Mack and Volvo trucks now have the option of spec’ing Bendix disc brakes... Mack Trucks now offers the Bendix ADB22X heavy-duty air disc brakes on the Mack Pinnacle axle forward and Mack Pinnacle axle back models. Volvo is offering the disc brakes on front and rear axles on Volvo VNs and VTs... Both OEMs are offering the Bendix disc brakes on the 12,000-pound front and 40,000-pound rear axles...
* India - Ashok Leyland to launch 35-tonne tractor to boost commercial vehicles sales news
Mumbai,India -domain-b.com -22 August 2008: -- Ashok Leyland Ltd has launched a new 35-tonne tractor with in-line fuel injection pump, today in Hyderabad. The company has lined up more launches, including in the heavy haulage multi-axle segment, over the next few months, said, Rajive Saharia, executive director (marketing) of Ashok Leyland... Ashok Leyland is also working on an expansion plan to increase plant capacity from the existing 84,000 units to 1,34,000 units by 2009...
* India - Volvo Group finalises its deal with Eicher Motors
New Delhi.India -Biglorryblog (London,UK) -21 Aug 2008: -- This splendid looking truck is an Indian-built Eicher Galaxy High-Roof... The Volvo Group has now finalised the long-awaited deal with Eicher Motors which establishes a new Indian joint-venture company, VE Commercial Vehicles Limited. The transaction has been approved by the necessary authorities and 50% of the joint-venture company has been consolidated in the Volvo Group from August 1st 2008. The joint venture will contain all of Eicher Motor's truck and bus operations as well as the Volvo Group's Indian truck sales operations and truck and bus service operations... As previously announced, Volvo Group has paid INR 13,200M (£ 166.5m) as part of the deal...
