FUEL CARD THEFT * USA - Ring hitting trucking companies
A handful of trucking companies believe someone is behind a major fuel heist in South King County using stolen fuel cards
Kent,Wash,USA –KING 5 News, by CHRIS DANIELS -June 25, 2008: -- ... The spree has racked up nearly $100,000 in charges... Jolyn Hamilton knew there was trouble back in April... Her gas card was among the valuables stolen and used almost immediately on a fueling spree... Her gas account was guzzled again just a few days ago and she's now lost more than $5,000 on illegal purchases... Rick Ransom says someone used his trucking company's card to pump $6,000 of fuel this month... Both companies say the purchases were done at a Petro-owned station in Kent. Another business also says their fuel card has been hit for roughly $70,000 in illegal purchases, even though the card only has a 120 gallon limit... Hamilton has her theory. "I think someone is stealing fuel to sell off."... He says he blames some of these thefts in part on the fact people had their PIN's written on their gas cards...
