Winnipeg,Man,Canada -Truck News, by James Menzies -15 Feb 2008: -- Manitoba's 2,200 km winter road system opened to commercial vehicles this week... The roads were late in opening because of mild temperatures through December, but the ice is now thick enough to support loaded tractor-trailers. Some sections of winter roads in the southern regions are limited to 26 tonnes... The province has been expanding its winter road network and has installed two new bridges on the Rice River Road. Meanwhile, the province has shifted more than 600 km of road off the ice and onto hard land...
