* Truckers Rise
New York,NY,USA -Associated Press/Forbes -7 Feb 2008: -- Shares of trucking companies mostly rose Thursday, as an analyst suggested that better-than-expected earnings from transportation logistics provider Hub Group Inc. bodes well for the struggling freight market... Hub Group reported fourth-quarter and full-year results that beat Wall Street's expectations after the market closed Wednesday, and also said it expects to match analysts' predictions for 2008... Baird analyst Jon Langenfeld called Hub's report "impressive," citing strong growth in its intermodal segment - which involves moving freight from one method of transportation to another. Intermodal sales rose 2 percent in the fourth-quarter - rebounding from a 5 percent decline in the third quarter - driven by improved volumes in the Eastern U.S... Truck brokerage sales also surged 15 percent in the period, compared to flat sales in the third quarter...
* Wright acquiring Pacific Price
USA -Fleet Owner -Feb 7, 2008: -- Wright Express has announced a definitive asset purchase agreement to acquire Pacific Price Services, a privately held company, for approximately $32 million in cash. The transaction should be completed before the end of the 2008 first quarter... Pacific Pride has a franchise network of over 330 independent fuel franchisees, processing about 32 million fleet card transactions a year, the company said. Pacific Pride cards provide access to fuel at over 1,000 partner locations...
