* Navistar stock up despite forecast - Truckmaker cuts '08 outlook for industry
Chicago,MI,USA -The Chicago Tribune, by James P. Miller -November 29, 2007: -- Navistar International Corp.'s recently volatile shares surged nearly 7 percent Wednesday, even as the Warrenville-based truck and engine-maker lowered its industry production forecast for fiscal 2008... Demand for the medium and heavy trucks that Navistar makes follows the economy's ups and downs, and fleet operators, after a lengthy buying spree that spurred solid profits for Navistar and its rivals, have been reluctant to spend on new trucks for close to a year... As a result, truck sales, as expected, were extremely soft in the first months of 2007. As the year went on, the rebound the industry had been hoping for failed to appear. And with the economy showing increasing signs that it will struggle in 2008, investors' expectations for the truck sector have begun to cool... * Calif. Court Rules Against FedEx in Drivers’ Case
