* Is Freightliner Moving From Oregon to the Charlotte Region?

Charlotte,NC,USA -WBTV News -25 Oct 2007: -- There is strong speculation that truck maker Freightliner may be moving its headquarters from Portland, Oregon, to the Charlotte region... Right now, there is a big Freightliner plant in Rowan County but they aren't in the running. It appears as though Lancaster County, South Carolina, is the front runner... In fact, Frieghtliner is putting an option on 300 acres of land in Lancaster County. WBTV News has also learned the company may be considering sites in York, Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties...



* Navistar talking to GM about truck business

Indianapolis,IN,USA -The IndyStar, by Ted Evanoff -25 Oct 2007: -- Navistar International said it is talking to General Motors about buying the medium-truck business... Navistar disclosed the talks this morning during a conference with Wall Street analysts. It was not immediately clear how the purchase would impact Indianapolis operations. Chicago,Ill,USA -Land Line Magazine -October 24, 2007: -- About 4,000 United Auto Workers in six states went on strike against International Truck and Engine Corp. Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 23, claiming the company has unfair labor practices... ITE is a unit of Navistar International... The Dow Jones Newswire quotes a company official as saying the unfair labor practice charge is “totally unfounded”... The strike comes after the UAW contract expired on Oct. 1, and negotiations failed to produce a new agreement...
