TOLL ROADS DEBATE * USA - Truckers say I-80 tolls would hurt business
It's a crockPEN,USA -The Centre Daily, by Sara Ganim -July 1, 2007: -- That's what drivers traveling on Interstate 80 in recent days were saying about a plan to put tolls on the road. Differing legislative measures, each adding tolls, have been approved by the state Senate and House. However, the plan met with little enthusiasm from truckers, local commuters and those just passing through Centre County... "Anything on an interstate highway for tolls is just another blow to the truckers," said Jack Kane, who owns and operates his truck. After 45 years on the road, he's seeing a lot of guys having a rough time, Kane said...
