Johannesburg,South Africa -all africa.com/Business Day, by Thabang Mokopanele -4 June 2007: -- Garth Boltong, joint CEO of Cargo Carriers, said the congestion caused by a shortage of roads created a huge antagonism towards trucks, which were seen to aggravate the situation... A Council for Scientific and Industrial Research study had shown that rail moved one third of the country's freight, and trucks represented 4% of the vehicles on South African roads. However, trucks travelled five times further than most cars, and therefore constituted 20% of road traffic...
