Protest * Ecuador - Dock workers seize banana vessels
Guayaquil,Ecuador -FreshPlaza (Tholen,Netherlands), by AndrĂ© van der Wiel -Nov 20 2006: -- A group of dock workers, who claim to be in the service of a shipping company which is owned by candidate for presidency, Alvaro Noboa, have seized two banana vessels, which were destined for the European market, and kept them in port by occupying them violently... The workers of Transmabo (Transportes MarĂtimos Bolivarianos) took the measure, because one does not pay them the labour conditions as dictated by law. They demand that Noboa keeps himself to labour laws... The action arrives exactly at a crucial moment in the election contest, which favours the opposition of course...
