* Australia - Trucking group goes for biodiesel
Melbourne,Australia -NEWS.com.au, by Florence Chong -Sept 23, 2006: -- ONE of the nation's biggest fuel users, trucking group LinFox, has backed the renewable fuels industry by trialling biodiesel in its fleet... A Fox family spokesman said the transport industry had to be more active in tackling carbon emissions, and biodiesel would play a key part... If Linfox was satisfied with the trial, its fleet would switch to biodiesel blends, which use a mix of palm oil and animal fats blended with diesel... Melbourne-based Axiom Energy supplied Linfox with the biodiesel, which was imported from Malaysia... Axiom Energy chief Danny Goldman said other trucking companies had also begun trials of biodiesel...

Brussels,Belgium -TNN (UK) - 25 Sept 2006: -- The European Commission has published the first consolidated European inventory of pollution from small, scattered sources such as trucks, cars, airplanes and ships... The inventory of EU-wide data on 'diffuse' pollution brings together for the first time information currently held in a range of different inventories... The inventory of diffuse pollution represents an important step towards the development of a future European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (European PRTR), which will allow more effective policymaking... The inventory confirms that emissions to air and water from diffuse sources account for a substantial share of overall pollution, in some cases exceeding releases from big industrial installations. The sectors with the highest emissions from diffuse sources are road transport, domestic heating and agriculture...
