Fuel expenses - Australia - Trucking costs soar

Canberra,Australian Capital Territory,Australia -The Canberra Times, by Victor Violante -20 August 2006: -- Truck driver Rod Apathy has seen his company's fuel expenses almost double in the past three years... Although Pearl Transport Canberra is only a small, two-truck operation, its average monthly fuel bill is almost $9000, and it just keeps getting higher as diesel prices continue to rise... Mr Apathy's freight service shuttles furniture between Canberra and Sydney, and despite the introduction of a 5per cent fuel levy on all invoices, things are getting tougher... "It's got a huge impact, because we have to pass the cost on, and we do that with a fuel levy," Mr Apathy said...
