* Court ruling favors Volvo in pricing case
GREENSBORO, N.C.,USA -The Trucker -11 Jan 2006: The United States Supreme Court on Jan. 10 issued a ruling in favor of Volvo Trucks North America in a dispute with one of its dealers regarding competitive pricing practices... The case was initiated by a dealer who argued against Volvo Trucks North America’s practice of evaluating specific potential truck sale transactions to meet specific competitive circumstances... In its interpretation of the Robinson-Patman Act in the case of Volvo Trucks North America, Inc. vs. Reeder-Simco GMC Inc., the Court upheld and affirmed the practice of competitive pricing in the heavy-duty truck industry...

* Survey: 1 in 4 Aussie truckers involved in accident
SYDNEY, Australia -The Sydney Morning Herald/The Trucker -11 Jan 2006: Things are apparently a bit harrowing on the roads of Australia... Reported that one in four truck drivers on roads in New South Wales was involved in an accident in the past year and more than 40 percent narrowly avoided one... The paper said the union had called for industrial manslaughter laws to be extended to clients of long distance transport companies so that managers and companies would be held criminally and financially accountable for fatal accidents caused by unsafe trucking schedules...
