DETROIT,Mich,USA - Automotive News, by Greg Migliore & Bradford Wernle -Jan 11, 2006: Automotive supplier Faurecia said it plans to open five U.S. plants and expand an existing plant in 2006 and hire an additional 2,000 employees by the end of 2009, the French company said Wednesday... The plants will be in Michigan, Ohio and South Carolina and bring the supplier's North American total to 23. When adds the workers, it will have about 9,200 on the continent...

* China's SAIC 2005 vehicle sales up 24 percent
SHANGHAI,China -Reuters -Jan 11, 2006: Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.,the General Motors' partner, China's largest automaker, said its vehicle sales grew 24 percent to 1.05 million units last year... sold 740,000 cars in 2005, up nearly 20 percent from 2004, SAIC said in a statement. Commercial vehicles sales made up the rest of its total, surging about 36 percent to 310,000 units...
