Optimism - USA - Despite facing new rules, trucking industry prospers

The successes of this past year can be seen in fleet investments for the future

Anchorage,AK,USA -Alaska Journal of Commerce, by Rob Stapleton -Dec 18, 2005: -- A busy year for the construction industry has also meant a surge in business for Alaska's trucking industry. At the same time the industry is enjoying more business, it is also facing ever-changing regulations... "Due to construction this past summer, the trucking industry recorded records for tonnage and value despite the record-high diesel prices," said Michael Bell, director of the Alaska Trucking Association... and explained that those companies that built a fuel surcharge into their pricing structure will finish the year in good shape. Those who didn't will face even bigger challenges next year when prices rise again.
