Sales - USA Chrysler's diesels are on the rise

Automaker pushing popular alternative to the gas engine
TRAVERSE CITY,Det.,Mich, USA --Detroil Free Press, by Tom Walsh -August 5, 2005: -- Chrysler will sell about 200,000 heavy-duty pickups with diesels this year, or about 30% of U.S. sales of those models, said Klegon, who will speak about diesel trends to the automotive Management Briefings Seminar today in Traverse City... The numbers appear to validate Chrysler's decision to push diesel as its foremost fuel-saving alternative to gasoline, while Toyota Motor Corp., Ford Motor Co. and other automakers are emphasizing gas-electric hybrid vehicles... The maker of Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler brand cars and trucks has not totally forsaken hybrids. The 2008 Dodge Durango will be its first vehicle to offer a gas-electric powertrain...
