DISCUSSIONS - USA - No Engine Braking vs. No Engine Brakes
Nebraska, USA -Google Group, misc.transport.trucking, byLarry Scholnick -02 Jul 2005: -- I understand why many communities forbid Engine Braking (often called Jake's Brakes, but don't let anyone from that company hear you call them by name!). But today I ran across several signs in various parts of Nebraska that outlawed Engine Brakes rather than Engine Braking. Does that mean that a trucker is obliged to dismantle his truck on the spot to remove the engine brakes?... They are simply failing to use Nebraska's state standard R42-1 sign, which reads "ENGINE BRAKING PROHIBITED - CITY ORDINANCE."..
