Local Nissan Plant Loses Top
Nahville,TN,USA -News Channel 5 -6/3/2005: -- The GM plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, has win a distinction as the most productive auto assembly plant in North America. The new leader for production had set an industry standard with 15.8 hours per vehicle... A report released Thursday in Detroit said the old leader the Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, has lost this distinction, the plant spent 16.1 labor hours per vehicle in 2004, but in 2003 this time was 15.3 labor hours... Auto industry analysts said Nissan had a heavier lineup of new vehicles in the past year...
