TRUCKERS UNEMPLOYED * USA - Why Bernie Sanders it wants ?

* Mississippi - American Truck Showrooms wants to know why?

-- American Truck Showrooms believes that the recent statement by presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, “We could do incredible things… we can build a state-of-the-art rail system, which takes trucks off the road…” is a notion that is ill conceived, reckless, and fraught with many impossibilities, as it pertains to the transportation industry. Whether it is the food we eat, the clothes we wear, or any other household good purchased by the American consumer, all of these products were delivered by one of the nation’s 3.5 million truckers... The majority of all shipments of goods in the U.S. are based on a “Just In Time” inventory management system, which cannot be accomplished by any means other than by truck. Few retail establishments in the United States have access to delivery by rail, and no other logistical system, short of anti-gravitational spacecraft, can compete with the efficiency and effectiveness of the semi-truck...

Instruments of Terror * USA - New York Police Turn Eye On Commercial Trucks As

New York,NY,USA -Layover (Akron, PA)/AP -11 June 2007: -- Less than a week after a suspected terrorist plot targeting John F. Kennedy International Airport made headlines, New York City police at an impromptu checkpoint in lower Manhattan were confronted with another, less sensational threat: a grimy, radioactive truck... Though the truck was harmless, the inspection illustrated the New York Police Department's fear that the ragtag armada of commercial trucks rumbling through the city each day could be instruments of terror... Police officials believe the roving checkpoints and array of inspection technology could thwart potential plots, including ones involving fertilizer-based truck bombs like those used in the attacks on the World Trade Center in 1993 and a federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995... Officers on the streets and in the subways also have begun wearing pager-like radiation detectors on their belts... Technicians armed with larger, hand-held radiation detectors circle the trucks. Officers also run swabs over the steering wheels, then insert them into another device that reads for traces of bomb-making materials... The NYPD recently put more emphasis on screening shipments of chlorine in response to evidence that it has become a favored ingredient of homemade bombs in Iraq... The screeners also pay close attention to dump and cement trucks because "they're hulking, they're heavy, they can smash through security check points," said Jonathan Duecker, an NYPD counterterrorism official...
