TRUCKING INDUSTRY * USA - Abilene's Bailey Truck Line closes after 65 years

Abilene,TX,USA -The Salina Journal, by GARY DEMUTH -19 Jan 2010: -- Nesha Bailey-Mason may be mayor of Abilene, but even she couldn't prevent the closing of her family's business, Bailey Truck Line... The longtime Abilene trucking business, founded in 1945 by her grandfather, closed Dec. 18, putting 17 drivers and four office employees out of work... The state of the economy, along with the decision of her father, Fred Bailey, to retire at age 71, factored in the decision to close the business, said Bailey-Mason, who also worked for the company... Fred Bailey said he regrets that an economic downturn has forced him to close the family business started by his father nearly 65 years ago... (Photo from abilene-rc)
